Other Annual Events
In addition to our "Mayflower Walk", "Christmas Float" and "The
Young Musician of the Year" our club hosts several other annual events throughout the year :-
The "Magic of Christmas Music" is a Christmas concert where young
singers from local schools come together at Mistley
Parish Church to enjoy performing traditional Christmas songs in
front of their families and school friends. The event has proved so
popular that last year a second performance was introduced due to
the size of the audience.

The "Guy Fawkes appeal" in November is a
traditional "Penny for the Guy" collection to raise money for local charities.
We set up a stall outside the Co-op Fiveways store with the help of
Guy and Ethel Fawkes, our rather dapper assistants, and this year
we raised over £400 for Ipswich Children's hospice.

The "Rotary week" in March is a
national event and our club arranges activities to raise local
awareness of Rotary and to raise money for good causes. The focus
this year is to help eradicate Polio as part of
the Rotary "Make Polio History" worldwide campaign. This
campaign (also known as the "Purple Pinkie" campaign -
find out
why here) is being promoted on a global scale.
We were kindly lent a shop in Manningtree High Street for three days to
meet people, give out literature, sell "clock-up" charity tee shirts
and seek people's views on what we could do in future to help the local
community. We even had volunteers in "sandwich boards" stirring up
some interest in the high street. Meanwhile, we had a collection for
the polio campaign running in Market Square.
