Manningtree, "The Smallest Town in England". |
|
Our members come from towns and villages from both the north and south of the River Stour. We are beautifully positioned where the Constable Country joins the Stour Estuary, one of Europe's foremost conservation areas. Manningtree has been a vibrant market town for nearly 800 years. It has an important rail link with London, Norwich and Harwich and there is easy road access to London, the Midlands and East Anglia. The area is famous for its links with William Shakespeare ("That roasted Manningtree Ox with a pudding in his belly" - Henry IV Part1) and Matthew Hopkin, the Witchfinder General. |
